It’s still wet out today but the weather is looking good tomorrow night for our Shelter Building workshop at Buzz Mill Coffee! We’ve also just dropped tickets for next week’s Buckskin Pouch Sewing workshop and the February 8 Utensil Carving workshop. We also have tickets available for the March 14 Plaited Basketry workshop. We hope you can join us!
In other news, we lost a good friend of the Lumber Society recently, Mike Valescu. Here is the information for the tree planting event in his honor:
“Please join with friends and family of Mike Valescu to honor his life and his legacy at 9:00am on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Mike was a tireless volunteer with groups like Keep Austin Beautiful, Central Area Master Naturalists, Austin Parks Foundation, and TreeFolks, and is unmatched in his commitment to our community and our environment. The greenspace and trail along Country Club Creek benefitted from his advocacy and volunteer efforts, so it is fitting that we memorialize Mike with a tree planting activity near the creek along with community volunteers taking part in the Ready, Set, Plant! event.”
To confirm your attendance, please use this TreeFolks volunteer registration link and indicate "Mike's Memorial Service" in the comments section.
