Hi Campers! What a beautiful day today! We hope you’re outside with a pet or friend enjoying it! We’ve got two awesome events to close out our May schedule. Let’s go!
This Thursday, May 15, guest speaker Devon Greer will teach us all about Pickling & Canning! This hands-on fermentation workshop introduces students to the science and art of preserving food through natural bacterial cultures.
We’re hosting a special Sunday morning Stone Tools Workshop at our cool new spot out back at Squatch Frontier Fitness 9am on May 25. Take a journey into the past as we explore the history of ancient humans and how they lived with stones as tools for survival!
Pickling & Canning Workshop
Participants will explore various fermentation techniques, understand the health benefits of consuming fermented foods, and learn how these traditional preservation methods enhance flavor while extending shelf life. Students will master the fundamentals of vegetable fermentation and probiotic drink creation by making their own quick pickles and establishing a versatile ginger bug starter culture to take home. By the end of the class, attendees will have the skills and confidence to continue fermenting safely in their own kitchens, incorporating these living foods into their regular diet.
